Benjamin Franklin School made headlines in 2016 over a 13-year-old student who assaulted police after he was caught at school with a soft shot, plastic BB gun. The student became physically combative when confronted by police.

Last September, FOX6 News spoke with people who live across the street from Benjamin Franklin School who said they worried the youngster had brought the weapon to school “for protection.”

“Why did the kid bring a BB gun to school? Was he scared? Or was he trying to harm or intimidate somebody? You don’t know,” said school neighbor James Brinston.

An autopsy will be performed on the the slain 6-year-old on Monday, said the Medical Examiner.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family and friends at this difficult time.
