An unnamed employee working as a cook Bluffton, SC., Fat Patties, restaurant, was severely burned and airlifted to burn center in Augusta on Wednesday afternoon after a stove exploded.
Bluffton Police say the employee was burned in a flash fire after he turned on the burner and allowed gas fumes to build up before later attempting to igniting the burner.
As a result, the victim sustained serious burns to both of his arms and his chest.
The victim was taken to Oscar Frazier Field where a helicopter picked him up and transported him to the burn center. The victim is expected to live.
