PICTURED: Mississippi Man Shot And KILLED By Wife In Domestic Dispute

Pictured is Cody A. Newell, the man found dead after allegedly assaulting his wife at their home on Quinn Road. The woman was hospitalized, said the Lincoln County sheriff. He was 25.

A handgun was recovered at the scene, investigators said.

The woman went to a neighbor’s house about 12:40 a.m. Sunday to seek help, according to a news release. The woman told the neighbor that she had been physically assaulted and said that she had shot her husband at their home on Quinn Road, authorities said. When deputies arrived at the home on Quinn Road, they found Newell dead. Newell’s wife had “extensive physical injuries” and was taken to King’s Daughters Medical Center, and then to a hospital in Jackson. No charges have been filed. Once the investigation is complete, the case will be sent to the district attorney, who will present it to a grand jury, authorities said. h/t
