PICTURED: Tyson Foods Employee SHOT In VA Baseball Practice Shooting

One of the victims is connected to Tyson Foods. Derek Burleson has confirmed that the name of the Tyson employee who was injured in this morning’s shooting is Matt Mika.

Tyson has released an updated statement that reads ” We have confirmed that Matt Mika, director-government relations for our Washington, D.C. office, is among those who was shot this morning in Alexandria. He has been taken to a local hospital and we’re awaiting word on his condition. Matt has worked for Tyson Foods for more than six years and we’re deeply concerned about him and his family.”

Like the rest of the country, we’re shocked by this morning’s senseless shooting and are trying to learn more about status of one of our team members from our Washington, D.C. office who was there when it happened, a statement read.

House Majority Whip Rep. Steve Scalise was shot in the hip. Scalise and other members of Congress were in the middle of a Congressional baseball practice. A congressional aide said Scalise is undergoing surgery at George Washington University Hospital.
