CNN is pulling the ultimate get out of jail free card by denying embroiled host, Reza Aslan, is even on the payroll. The comments come after the host caused an uproar posting a tweet calling President Trump a “piece of [expletive].”

“Reza Aslan is not a CNN employee, but does host a series on the network,” a CNN spokesperson said in a statement. “We are pleased that he has apologized for his tweets. That kind of discourse is never appropriate.”

Reza’s TV series “Believer,” which indeed airs on CNN, is most likely a “package series,” a production that is shot in-full and then offered to networks for sale.

CNN describes Believer this way; “In this new spiritual adventure series, renowned author and religious scholar Reza Aslan immerses himself in the world’s most fascinating faith-based groups to experience life as a true believer”

So if CNN doesn’t pay the spiritual adventurer, who does? Reza’s “Believer” is listed as being produced by BoomGen Studios. The studio is also listed as performing “audience engagement” and “publicity and marketing consulting” for a series entitled, “All-American Muslim.”

BoomGen Studios’ only other “production company” credit is listed as, “Of Kings and Prophets.”
