Hundreds of travelers could be seen on the tarmac after a shooting at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport. Massive delays are expected as authorities shutter the busy airport during the investigation.
At least nine people are injured and at least one has died after a shooting that was reported by former White House Press Secretary Ari Fleischer who tweeted Friday that he was at the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport when the mass shooting took place.
“I’m at the Ft. Lauderdale Airport. Shots have been fired. Everyone is running,” Fleischer tweeted at 12:57 p.m. Reports say, the shooter has been apprehended.
The airport was evacuated, and hundreds of people were gathered on the tarmac. NBC Miami reported that the shooting occurred inside the baggage claim inside Terminal 2. It was not clear if the gunman was shot dead at the scene, or if the shooter had been taken into custody. h/t brisbanetimes
