An Oakland rave, held by musician Joel Shanahan, aka, Golden Donna, has ended tragically in a blaze that has killed at least 10 people with another 30 reported unaccounted.
The fire broke out at the Ghost Ship in Oakland, a makeshift nightclub located in the upstairs portion of a warehouse known as a “rave cave.” About 100 were said to have been attending the dance party.
The fire became so out of control that at one point all fire units were ordered out of the building. Authorities told KTVU-TV about 50 people were inside the building, which houses a group of artists and their studios. Between 75 and 100 people were inside when it broke out and now 55 firefighters are battling the blaze on three sides of the building. The fire broke out at 11.30pm during the event said to be part of musician Golden Donna’s 100% Silk tour. h/t metro
