A train pulling cars full of oil has derailed near Oregon’s scenic Columbia River Gorge. The derailment has sparked a huge blaze that is emitting plumes of thick, black smoke.
The accident occurred near Mosier, Oregon, just after the 12pm Friday.
Ken Armstrong, spokesman for the Oregon Department of Forestry, says the incident involves eight cars filled with oil and one is burning. The train was operated by Union Pacific. A spokesman for the railroad didn’t immediately return calls. h/t madison-press
