First The Earthquakes Now MYSTERY FOAM Tsunami Strikes Japan

First came a series of devastating earthquakes now comes a mysterious foam blanketing the streets of southern Japan.

The large quakes claimed the lives of at least 41 across several cities, with scores more still missing and injured, and now Saturday’s magnitude 7.0 shaker in the city of Fukuoka, has unleashed a strange tsunami of thick white foam.

The earthquakes have caused untold amounts of damage, but on Saturday, residents of the city of Fukuoka discovered an especially strange result: a mysterious foam blanketing the streets. Twitter users began posting photos of the unexplained foam shortly after the tremors receded. Some have speculated that an underground pipe had burst, although the origin is still unclear. What exactly the bubbles are made of is still a mystery. One Twitter user called it “disgusting.” h/t fox4kc

A Fukuoka city spokesperson told reporters that they did not know anything about the bubbles origin.
