Mary A. Hastings, the Texas high school math teacher caught on video striking one of her students in the head repeatedly, is now facing assault charges.
The cellphone video, recorded by a classmate, shows Hastings, 63, beating the student about the head, neck and shoulders while he sat at his desk.
Hastings is a geometry teacher at Ozen High School. After being arrested she was placed on paid leave.
