Tennis star Maria Sharapova admitted in a Los Angeles press conference that she failed a surprise drug test administered upon her at the Australian Open.
Sharapova, a five-time major champion, said she tested positive for meldonium, a banned substance added to the list this of banned substances year.
The tennis star said she has been taking Meldonium since 2006 for a magnesium deficiency.
The WTA has not yet announced a penalty.
