Former St. Louis Rams running back, Lawrence Phillips, was found dead in his cell at Kern Valley State Prison. He was 40.
Early reports say the former NFL player committed suicide.

Phillips was convicted of choking his girlfriend and later of driving his car into three teens after a pickup football game. He was also charged with murder for allegedly killing his cellmate in 2013. h/t abc7
Phillips played for the St. Louis Rams, Miami Dolphins and San Francisco 49ers during a three-year NFL career.
