Eagles of Death Metal sat down for an interview for the first time since a terrorist attack during their concert in Paris on Nov. 13.
Frontman Jesse Hughes spoke about the horrible incident which occurred while they performed at Paris’ Bataclan theatre. The attack was perpetrated by three ISIS terrorists who opened fire at the crowd of approximately one thousand music lovers.
“Several people hid in our dressing room and the killers were able to get in and killed every one of them except for a kid who was hiding under my leather jacket,” Hughes told VICE, sitting next to bandmate Joshua Homme, as seen in an excerpt from an upcoming on-camera interview. “People were playing dead and they were so scared,” he added. “A great reason why so many were killed is because so many people wouldn’t leave their friends, so, and, uh, so many people put themselves in front of people.” h/t e!
The band survived, but not so lucky were their merchandising manager, Nick Alexander, and three colleagues from their record label, Thomas Ayad, Marie Mosser, and Manu Perez, who all died in the attack. The terrorists took hostages and killed 89 people before police raided the venue and shot them dead.
