What Jared Fogle Said To Judge Right Before Being Sentenced

Jared Fogle in his own words directly before he was sentenced to 15.6 years in federal prison for his crimes against children.

Fogle: Where do I even try to begin, your honor? For most of my life, I’ve tried to be a role model for children. Somewhere along the line, my life spiraled out of control completely. At the time, I truly did not understand what I was doing as well as the consequences of my actions. At the time, I thought that because I was paying them it was okay. My young son and daughter will have to live with these burdens. My wife will be a single mother and I never intended for that to happen.

Judge interjects: You gave your wife $7 million so she should be fine.

Fogle: My intent while in prison is to somehow try to help people in a productive way. I want to make a positive act. I want to become a better person, redeem my life, and help others. h/t cbs4indy

Shortly thereafter the judge sentenced Fogle to 15.6 years in prison for his crimes. According to federal guidelines, the former Subway pitchman will spend at least 13.5 of those years behind bars.
