Times they are a changin’. A North Carolina mall made some huge changes to this Christmas season decorations, doing away with all of them in favor of a bleak frozen tundra.
Santa’s tree is being replaced by a giant ice glacier and there will be no more tree-lighting ceremony. A spokesperson for Southpark Mall called the changes “fresh and exciting.”
The Charlotte Observer reported that SouthPark Mall in Charlotte is implementing the new changes in an effort to make visiting Santa “fresh and exciting.” “The reinvented and modernized experience will bring the Charlotte community together in a way that hasn’t been done before,” the mall said, according to the paper. h/t myfox8
Not everyone (as in no one) is excited about the new changes. A petition to bring the Christmas tree back currently has more than 13,000 signatures.
