Oregon Shooter Positively Identified

Authorities finally identified the mass shooter at Umpqua Community College as Chris Harper Mercer.

Mercer, 26, is pictured on his MySpace page holding a rifle. He recently moved to Oregon from Torrance California.

He was armed with four weapons — three handguns and one assault weapon, according to NBC News’ Pete Williams. He was not a student at the school, authorities said. They are still working to figure out his connection to UCC, Williams said, and have uncovered “documents that expressed the philosophy of hate.” h/t huffington post

Mercer’s social media account featured photos of the Irish Republican Army, a revolutionary group that has historically been rooted in acts of violence.
