The story, posted by the Inquisitr, reported that Costco pulled from stores a decorated cake of a dragon with feet in the shape of “666,” over a customer’s complaint.
The story claimed a Christian Arizona mother had complained to the big-box store that the cake’s design looked demonic, but the story proved a hoax perpetrated by a pair freelance writers.
The story, originally posted by Inquisitr.com, was then relayed by multiple news sources.TheCount.com decided not to cover the original story after our brief investigation.
As of press time, Inquisitr had taken the post down while the writers angrily tried to justify their actions on Facebook. “To the stalkers stalking my Facebook page,” he wrote, “I am aware and have known that the US Costcos do not have an online ordering system. They removed the cakes from their Australian stores. The US Costcos require an ordering form. But these stalking trolls already know this because I linked the Australian Costco online ordering form in my Inquisitr article. I am also aware of the history of ‘616’ and the change to ‘666.’” h/t rawstory
