Denver woman, Akiko Belich, died after passing out in a 24 Hour Fitness steam room, and her body wasn’t found until the next day when club members made the grisly discovery.
Belich, 77, was found at 7:45 a.m. on March 30 by two female gym members.
“My heart dropped. I was like ‘I just can’t believe it, what happened?’” said Melissa Belich, the granddaughter of Akiko Belich.
Jefferson County Deputy Coroner Jon Cline determined Belich had been dead at least 12 hours when she was found. The autopsy report stated Belich died from acute renal failure because of dehydration.
“Awful … obviously they didn’t bother to make rounds of the facility to make sure that everybody’s alright,” gym member Sonya Wasinger said. h/t pix11

Wasinger was one of the two 24 Hour Fitness customers who found Belich lifeless on a bench in the steam room.
“I wish I could’ve gone in and found her and revived her,” said a crying Wasinger.
