A large meteor was seen streaking across the skies in North Carolina around 6:20 p.m. Monday.
Also known as a fireball, reports flooded social media describing the meteor as having a green tail falling toward the sky.
Reports have come in from Mount Airy, Reidsville, Greensboro, Burlington, Winston-Salem and as far away as Charlotte and Weaverville (north of Asheville).
There has not been any reports of it actually hitting the ground, though many reports suggested it appeared to be heading toward the ground.
