Hotel mogul, Steve Wynn cut a check for over $28.2 million for a sculpture of the cartoon character created by pop-modern artist Jeff Koons at the Sotheby’s auction in New York on Wednesday night.
Wynn participated via phone from his desk at one of his Strip properties.
The sale was was part of a two-night auction featuring postwar and contemporary art. The overall take was said to have raked in more than $1 billion.
The mirrored sculpture will go on display in the lobby of the Wynn within the month.
