Genesis Carmona, a beautiful Venezuelan model, is dead after peacefully protesting her government’s social and economic issues..
The 22 year-old model and beauty pageant winner was ruthlessly shot in the head by a government sniper.
Génesis Carmona was a Venezuelan fashion model and recently titled beauty queen, who won the regional title of Miss Tourism 2013 for the State of Carabobo. She was a college student in Valencia, Carabobo, and she took part in the 2014 Venezuelan protests in her local city.
On 18 February 2014, at the age of 22, she suffered a close-range gunshot wound to the back of the head while demonstrating in the streets, and after having been transported to a hospital by a motorcyclist, was placed in the Intensive Care Unit of a downtown Valencia hospital, where she died of gunshot trauma and loss of blood the next day.
A family member lemented,
“How long are we going to live like this? How long do we have to tolerate this pressure, with them killing us? She only needed one more semester to graduate.”
Our thoughts and prayers go out to Carmona’s friends and family at this difficult time.
