Myfoxtampabay.com is reporting, two people were shot inside a movie theater in Wesley Chapel early this afternoon.
The shooting happened at the Cobb CineBistro at Grove 16 complex on Wesley Grove Blvd., the sheriff’s office confirmed to FOX 13.
Both victims were flown to a Tampa-area hospital. There was no immediate word on their condition.
A male suspect is in custody.
Nearly all of the complex’s theaters would have been showing a movie at the time of the shooting, according to a schedule posted on the corporate website.
An “altercation” took place, the sheriff said, and the man pulled out a gun and shot both the other man and his significant other.
Both victims were hospitalized. The male victim has since died, while the woman suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
A good Samaritan inside the theatre was able to detain the suspect until deputies arrived, the sheriff added. That male suspect is in custody.
“It’s absolutely crazy it would rise to this level,” the sheriff told FOX 13.
