Anjelica Huston Admits ”I Attempted Suicide”

In the long arsed titled book, “A Story Lately Told: Coming of Age in Ireland, London, and New York,” Huston, 62, admits that she carried on an affair with Bob Richardson, a 42-year-old married fashion photographer, when she was just 18.

Their relationship was rocky due in large part to Richardson’s bipolar disorder. One time, he threw a tequila bottle at Huston’s head. Another time, he told her she wasn’t a “real woman” because she wasn’t pregnant with his child.

It was during one of their heated arguments that Huston tried to kill herself..

“I never felt so fragile or vulnerable as when Bob became demonic and flew into a rage, or worse, when afterward he retreated into his shell,” she writes. “One morning, four days into one of these ordeals, I walked into the bathroom at the Chelsea [Hotel] and, in desperation, drew a razor blade across my left wrist. I ran back into the bedroom, blood spurting from the vein, crying to him: ‘Will this make you love me?”

Huston also has had an enduring fling with Jack Nicholson.

“We’ve had a long and deep friendship, and Jack’s somebody that I want in my life. I wouldn’t be happy not having him in my life,” she writes.
