It’s called a newswire. One writer for a news agency “uploads” his story, local news stations pick it up and write it into their script–usually they find some way to paraphrase it, but if there’s something catchy about the lead, like in this case, they’ll use it verbatim. There’s nothing really sinister about it–why should the hundreds of TV stations all over the country EACH have a reporter doing all the legwork and writing for a silly celebrity story?
