‘THE SHAM’ Did THE WANTED HIRE Lindsay Lohan?

When it comes to publicity, British boy-band “The Wanted” seem to be on a real roll! For example, the lads tour the states for the first time and wouldn’t you know it – one of the band members hooks up with none other than, tabloid fodder fav, Lindsay Lohan… What are the chances? Apparently 100%. My source, currently sitting in a very busy PR department in Hollywood tells me, the entire thing is “one big sham.” Seems reps from The Wanted were reaching out as early as last summer, seeking an “American actress,” to “interact with a band member” for a “paid press event,” in other words, The Wanted, wanted and seemingly succeeded in hiring Lohan to tag along to help garner them press… Gotta hand it to those UK press people.

As you can see in the photo below, in what turned out to be a little bit of a last-minute PR hiccup, Max George was the NOT the first choice for this stupid stunt… This poor band member almost got wrangled into it.

And Lindsay was not the band’s first choice, Selena Gomez, Vanessa Hudgins and even Taylor Swift were all tapped for the pricey gig, but all of them turned it down.

And how was Lohan compensated? The Wanted reportedly paid her a staggering $500,000 to jump on this farse in a deal that curiously involved her dad as mediator…

If you remember, over the summer The Wanted was being billed as a sort of bad-boy-band-alternative to One Direction.

I am kind of proud to say that I was not buying into this for one minute. Lindsay is way too old for that guy, maybe not in years, but you know what I’m saying.

Now that you know the truth, it’s like DUH, right?
