KC Chiefs SECOND Murder Suicide Since September

The Kansas City Chiefs’ season just went from bad to worse with the murder suicide of their running back, Jovan Belcher, but get this, this is not the first murder suicide in the Chiefs organization, matter-of-fact, there was another just back in September!

On labor day, an employee of the Chiefs was involved in a murder suicide shooting, this time in Tampa, Florida, Luis Angel Robertson Rodriquez worked in the Chiefs’ organization mainly in the stadium operations. On that night, Rodrigues killed himself after killing his girlfriend 31-year-old, Jamie Kristine Kimble.

The Tampa Bay cops discribed the scene like this,

The suspect and victim began arguing in the suspect’s car after he picked her up from the airport on Sunday evening. The suspect punched her several times in the vehicle.

The victim jumped out of the car on Cypress Street just West of Westshore Boulevard. The suspect then shot and killed the victim. The suspect then drove his car a short distance and shot himself. He later died at a Tampa hospital. The victim and suspect were dating.

Let’s just hope that tragedy doesn’t strike in threes for the Chiefs.

  • Maybe they are full of $&!%...as I mentioned above...why hasn't the entire 1969 roster of linebackers killed every woman in their lives?...they wore equipment comparable to a Rambler in those days...Dick Butkus had so many concussions he is damaged today...or how about Mohammad Ali?...he has Parkinson's from head injuries...he didn't kill his wife...Domestic Violence is about control and losing control and not liking it...violence is like a temper tantrum for an adult...very sad and IT should be the conversation right now!

  • I noticed the Monday Night Football commentator said he was concerned for a player because he took a lot of head hits... maybe awareness is finally here...

  • I was just watching Piers on CNN...and the big talking point was brain injuries with football players...seriously? It is just plain ole' domestic violence...If you are a person who NEEDS to be in control and control is taken away or you feel it slipping...you retaliate...period. If head injury caused men to kill then half of the football players from the 60's and 70's would have dead wives all over the world...do you think the protection worn by this crop of players is offering less protection than say Dick Butkus or any other player from that era? I cannot believe they are not discussing the families affected by this tragedy...they are discussing brain injuries...The League should be ashamed, for not taking this tragedy and using it as an opportunity to create an open dialog and perhaps get counseling started for anyone with similar situations. TWO women killed in 3 months...2 men killing themselves and leaving a path of destruction in families too raw to comprehend. This is a serious issue...not brain damage from football...remember their names Jamie Kimble and Kasandra Perkins, they did not deserve to die, and it wasn't a football injury that caused this, it was men with no self control...domestic violence touches everyone.

  • Domestic violence cuts across every segment of society and occurs in all age, racial, ethnic, socio-economic, sexual orientation, and religious groups. I have worked with victims of domestic violence (females, males, and children) for 32 years and find that very few truly understand the magnitude of domestic violence, not only in the United States, but world wide. Every 9 seconds in the US a woman is assaulted or beaten or worse. Around the world, at least one in every three women has been beaten, coerced into sex or otherwise abused during her lifetime. Who is to blame? There is a lot to spread around. Many people in our society look the other way when it comes to domestic violence or condone it by staying silent when they witness or suspect it. Our court systems give perpetrators a slap on the wrist as punishment. Community Service for beating another human being? Disgusting. Has anyone ever heard of Chris Brown? I really had not until he beat his girlfriend. Rihanna. His career took a very minor hit and now he is back being idolized by many and making big money. Sad........to say the least. In our society, our role models are all wrong. Athletes, singers, actors, and other entertainers are idolized and make huge salaries even when they commit crimes. Our children learn that if you are famous anything seems to go. Too much emphasis on fame, fortune, and winning, and not enough on how to grow into a kind, decent, productive human being. The problem is that our society has become complacent and lazy when it comes to stopping domestic violence, child abuse, and many other societal problems. It only matters if something affects them directly. I am not a sports fan, but I am pretty sure that there would be very little impact on domestic violence by the KC Chiefs or any other team management discussing the problems with its players. The root problem is much larger and deeper. Until society gets serious about halting domestic violence, it will continue. Speak out to the folks that can effect real change to ameliorate the problem. Legislators, local law enforcement, court systems, your children, your relatives, community clubs, and anyone you suspect is a victim and will listen. The road to ending domestic violence will be long and difficult to navigate, but so worth the journey. God bless the families of these two women and help them find peace.

  • Thank you for making this point...the league needs to deal with Domestic Violence and the culture of why it seems verboten to talk about it to all men. Domestic Violence affects everyone. It is all about control. It may not be physical but, it will end that way...and as we found out with my sweet friend Jamie...the first time could mean your life. A correction however, they were not currently dating and he had waited for her at baggage claim for three days waiting for her flight...had she known his state I am sure she never would have accepted his ride instead of taking the shuttle. Most abusers are master manipulators and he was no exception. KC Chiefs have an opportunity to bring this discussion out into the open...I hope they will take this opportunity and insist on counselling and communication for everyone involved with their organization and perhaps the league will take heed...something must be done...these women should not have died and perhaps they can be the catalyst towards saving others...
