A Florida electrician showing-up for New York’s hurricane Sandy victims ended up getting mugged for his efforts.
John Applewhite, 30, a lineman for Lake Land Electric, was surprise attacked while he stood outside his truck in East Hempstead, New York, on Friday, said cops.
Applewhite had just concluded a grueling 18 hour shift helping Sandy victims rebuild their lives when a black BMW pulled up beside him. “I didn’t know what his intentions were,” Applewhite told a local TV station, “I didn’t know if I was going to be robbed or if he was just upset he had a nice car so I kind of let my guard down it’s unfortunate it really is.”
For a still unknown reason, a black man exited the luxury vehicle and proceeded to beat the living crap out of Applewhite.
Applewhite is now back in Florida nursing a black eye, broken jaw and several facial fractures. “They’re going to put a plate in my face and a wire in my jaw,” said Applewhite laying in a hospital bed, “Well I guess no good deed goes unpunished.”
