Wow! After their 5-year contract marriage, Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes are DIVORCING!
There are no documents showing the actual divorce papers as of now, but TMZ got a confirmation from Holmes’ attorney, who stated: “This is a personal and private matter for Katie and her family. Katie’s primary concern remains, as it always has been, her daughter’s best interest,” said Attorney Jonathan Wolfe.
We are waiting on a statement from Cruise’s attorney, to see if this is a mutual divorce, or if Holmes filed first.
*UPDATE 2:06 p.m. E.T.* – TMZ states that Katie filed the divorce documents in New York on June 28, citing “irreconcilable differences.” Katie is said to be asking for sole legal custody and “primary residential custody” of their daughter Suri. Katie is also asking for a division of property in the divorce documents, although there was a significant prenup that is based on California law. TMZ says Katie makes no mention of the prenup in her filing.
*UPDATE 4:16 p.m. E.T.* – Cruise has finally released his own statement through his publicist saying, “Kate has filed for divorce and Tom is deeply saddened and is concentrating on his three children. Please allow them their privacy to work this out.”
