Maksim Chmerkovskiy’s leg gave out on last night’sDancing with the Stars and he dropped Kirstie Alley on the floor during their performance. Their rumba to Somewhere Over the Rainbow turned sour pretty fast when Maksim dropped Kirstie right at the beginning of their routine. She was left to get up on her own, and Maksim limped through the rest of the routine.
This comes as a tough blow for Kirstie Alley. She has consistently been in the top 3 of the judges’ leader board until the fall took her to a disappointing three-way-tie for fifth place.
60-year-old Kirstie Alley got right back up and received praise for not letting the fall hurt the rest of the performance with Maksim. The judges praised the couple that despite the fall; they recovered well and still received a score of 21 out of 30.
The theme of the night was to select a song that had an emotional meaning for the stars’ past. Kirstie chose to act out a turning point in her life: the hopefulness after the loss of her parents to a drunk driver.
Maks stated that his leg just gave out, and apologized to Cheers star, Kirstie Alley after the performance. He appeared to be in pain for the remainder of the performance, but got through with just a few grimaces. She later tweeted that she forgives his mistake and is honored to have him for her partner.
