A new study says that the U.S. over-fluoridates the public drinking water! The fluoridation levels are so high now, that kids’ teeth are getting visible splotches, pits, and peoples’ bones are more brittle now, especially in states like Maryland, where the fluoridation level is the highest in the U.S.. Nearly every resident has fluoridated water in their home in Maryland! Keep reading to find out how much is in your water…
The study said that about 2 out of 5 adolescents have tooth streaking or spottiness because of too much fluoride intake, and some teeth can even be pitted by the mineral! Now since the study came out, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services is proposing to change the recommended fluoride level in public water to only 0.7 milligrams per liter of water, instead of recommending the allowed range of 0.7-1.2 milligrams per liter of water. The standard since 1962 has been a range of 0.7 to 1.2 milligrams per liter. The study also said that an intake of over 4 milligrams per liter of fluoridated water is definitely where bones begin the brittle and teeth begin to pit! But a study in 2006 by the National Academy of Sciences said that fluoride levels over 2 milligrams per liter are even threatening- 4 is blowing the roof! If you think about this- you give your kid highly fluoridated toothpaste, fluoride supplements (yes they’re out there), and fluoridated water, then sadly, you are not being cautious about your kid’s teeth, you are actually putting their health in danger! Watch your levels of fluoride! Check your town’s fluoride level here on this CDC site.
Officials have always told the public that fluoride is somehow good for you, but too much is bad. How do you know when it is too much? Well, when kids are getting visible splotches on their teeth, pits, their bones are weak… you know that the fluoride has been too much. Fluoride used in moderation can help prevent cavities as we all know, but drinking high levels/toothpaste/supplements of it on a daily basis is not good because you will wind up getting “Fluorosis”, which means that you are damaged from fluoride! You can even get fluorosis from over fluoridated water alone.
Ways to get away from the fluoride is buying or making your own distilled water, or, you can move to a place in the U.S. that doesn’t fluoridate the water- Portland, Oregon. Portland is one of the largest cities that doesn’t fluoridate its water. When you buy a water filter, make sure the fine print says that it distills the water, or filters the fluoride.

Oh and the rise in tooth decay in small children is because to many parents let there kids drink to much soda and sweets, or meals at fast food places instead of home cooked meals with veg. and such.
I think they should take it all out. My family is all now in there 40s to 60s and we all have rotting teeth, not from lack of care or trying. Discolored teeth breaking off pits on surfaces. A huge mess when your in you latter years. I really feel it is from all teh floride water we drank. I now live in the Country with great well water never gave floride to my kids and there teeth are fantastic. My grand child will never have it in hers if I can help it.
