This 2,500 year-old legendary Greek structure, the Parthenon, was almost struck by lightening yesterday in Athens, Greece.
The picture alone is cool, but the Greek mythology behind the structure really makes the picture interesting.
The Parthenon, completed in 432BC, was originally dedicated to the Goddess Athena. Its main function was to shelter a statue of the goddess made out of gold and ivory.
Zeus is a Greek God like Athena, and he is also Athena’s Father in Greek mythology. He is known best for being “The God of the Sky” and “The Thunderbolt God”.
Okay, so it’s like Athena’s Father Zeus is in the sky, and he threw his thunderbolt near her statue, which lies inside of the Parthenon in Greece!
