Talk about an original, Army Archerd was an innovator in the gossip world. Writing for more than 50 years for Daily Variety covering celebrities like Rock Hudson, Marilyn Monroe, Lana and Ava Turner, Lucille Ball, Clark Gable, Tyrone Power, Elvis Presley and Bing Crosby, Archerd was certainly rocking the gossip before most of us were even a glimmer in our parent’s eye.
Archerd was 87 and is survived by his his wife of 40 years, Selma, a son and two stepsons.
