Definitely a violation of terms of service practically across the board. However, apparently despite backing off on the requirement for the login information, they're still set on getting the information somehow. At least according to Debralegg.com.

Also, according to Newsy.com, Facebook has reported that it will be getting in touch with the city. When Facebook can tell the government they're out of line, you know they've arrived.

Bozeman city officials should be charged criminally for possible violation of federal law, as they are inducing applicants to violate terms of service which forbid users from sharing their logins.

Furthermore, who would hire somebody who had worked for Bozeman, having agreed to ( or worse, required) such egregious violation of one of the most fundamental concepts of IT security -- never, ever share your username and password with anyone.

Perhaps all employers should demand that all former Bozeman employees share all usernames and passwords used under the employ of Bozeman.
