CHELSEA, Manhattan (THECOUNT) — NBA player J.R. Smith remanded himself into police custody Friday morning in connection with an incident where he allegedly threw a cellphone to the ground back in July, police said.
Smith, who plays for the Cleveland Cavaliers and used to be on the New York Knicks, allegedly snatched a phone from someone standing outside of 114 Tenth Ave. in Chelsea and threw it across the street into a construction site, causing the device’s screen to break, police said. It happened on July 29.
Smith turned himself into police with an attorney at about 10:15 a.m. Friday and was issued desk appearance ticket, police said. The 32-year-old New Jersey native has been charged with criminal mischief. Continue reading
Colorado officials say sports agent, Dan Fegan, is the person who died in a crash involving a commuter bus and a rented SUV Sunday. He was 56.
According to local reports, Fegan, a longtime sports agent with a roster of star NBA clients, was traveling in an SUV when the collision occurred Sunday morning near Highway 82 outside of Aspen.
A 29-year-old woman from California and Fegan’s 5-year-old son were in the SUV at the time of the collision.
According to the Colorado State Patrol, no one on the Roaring Fork Transportation Authority commuter bus was hurt. The Aspen Times reports that the person who died was traveling in the SUV with two other people. Continue reading
Florida police are investigating a deadly shooting Monday night near the Pinellas Park City Hall that took the life of Caroline Morton-Hicks of St. Petersburg.
TheCount.com has obtained photos of Morton-Hicks. She was 59 years old.
Officers responded to shots fired just before 10:00 p.m. in the 5100 block of 78th Avenue and found the body of a woman in the street. Continue reading
Singer, Alejandro “Jano“ Fuentes, who appeared on the Mexican version of singing competition “The Voice,” has died after being shot on Chicago’s Southwest side.
Fuentes, 45, was shot in the head several times by an unknown assailant who ordered him from his vehicle. Friends who were traveling with the singer said, noting was taken in the execution style murder.
The Cook County Medical Examiner’s office confirmed that 45-year-old Alejandro “Jano” Fuentes died on Saturday. Continue reading
