A swarm of over 200 earthquakes, measuring 4.0 and under, occurring deep under the Salton Sea began rupturing near Bombay Beach, and continued for more than 24 hours.
The quakes have garnered intense concern among seismologists who noted the seismic events marked only the third time since earthquake sensors were installed there in 1932.

A magnitude 5.6 earthquake rocked Pawnee, Oklahoma Saturday morning in a seismic event that was felt in at least six surrounding states.
The rare over 5 magnitude quake struck the nation’s heartland and was felt in Kansas, Arkansas, Missouri, Texas, Nebraska, and Iowa, according to USGS geophysicists. A 5.1M quake hit the area back in February 2016.
The Oklahoma Corporation Commission, a regulatory agency that examines the state’s fuel, oil, gas, public utilities and transportation industries, is “reviewing disposal wells in the vicinity of the earthquake near Pawnee,” Oklahoma Gov. Mary Fallin said via Twitter. Continue reading
The New Zealand Ministry Of Civil Defense and Emergency Management has issued a Tsunami threat warning following a 7.1 earthquake struck off the coast.
The warning, released via social media and the EQNZ website, instructs folks in the region to “Stay off beaches and shore areas. Do not go sightseeing.” and “People in coastal areas should stay out of the water. Stay off beaches and shore.”

At least 19 houses collapsed and an unknown number of people are still trapped in the rubble Thursday night, after a magnitude 6.2 earthquake struck southern Japan late Thursday.
The U.S. Geological Survey said the magnitude-6.2 quake struck near Ueki, Japan. Aftershocks are still rocking the affected area shortly afterward.

A 4.3-magnitude earthquake hit 22 miles east, north east of Lucerne Valley on Friday, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.
The quake struck at 10:13 p.m. and had a depth of 1.5 miles. The temblor was first reported as a magnitude-4.4 but was revised soon after.

Countless residents of the Jersey Shore have reported hearing a loud boom, possible two, then felt the ground shake under their feet.
The noise rattled residents at about 1:30 p.m. NJ time and was reported as far north as Lakewood and as far south as Vineland.
