Actor-director Sean Penn was charged today with battery and vandalism charges stemming from an altercation with a photographer paparazzi in Brentwood, California last fall.
Penn will be arraigned March 22 on the two misdemeanor charges, said Los Angeles city attorney’s spokesman Frank Mateljan.
Penn will not be required to appear in court if he is represented by an attorney.
Mateljan said Penn kicked a photographer during a paparazzi crush in October 2009. The photographer’s camera also was damaged. The incident was captured on a video posted by celebrity Web site TMZ.com in which Penn is seen kicking at a photographer and repeatedly telling the photographer to “get out.”
If convicted, Penn could face up to 18 months in jail.
Two female LAPD cops are have been placed on leave in connection with a leaked photo of a bruised and battered Rihanna.
After Rihanna endured a beating from Chris Brown she trusted cops to photograph her mangled face. Two weeks later that very picture showed up on the TMZ website. Now two police officers are being investigated as the possible source of that leak.
Rebecca M. Reyes, a nine-year veteran of the force and rookie Blanca Lopez, are roomies and likely the ones responsible for releasing the photo, betraying not only the badge but also a fellow woman who trusted them to picture her in a very compromising position.
It’s a sad day in the world when the people coming to your apparent rescue turn out to be the bad guys, girls.
DJ AM — also known as Adam Goldstein — has passed away, according to sources within the NYPD.
The famous DJ, who survived a plane crash with rocker Travis Barker back in 2008, was found dead in his New York apartment around 5 PM today. Drug paraphernalia, including prescription drug bottles, were also found in the apartment.
TMZ is reporting that the body has not yet been removed from the apartment. The police were called after friends hadn’t seen Goldstein in several days.
He was 36.
5:49: Authorities are saying a “crack pipe” was found on the scene. Goldstein had spoken publicly about his past addictions to crack cocaine. The prescription pills were found in his kitchen.

Crazy I say! Brody Jenner and his gal, Jayde Nicole were in an altercation with “Girls Gone Wild” Joe Fransis according to our friends at TMZ.
At a club and just days after surgery, Jenner sighted Francis hitting on a lady and Jaydy thought he was harassing her. Jayde desided to throw a drink in Francis’ face. The lady happens to be Francis’ ex and a friend of Jenner and Jayde. According to Jenner, Francis was “unrelentingly.” Jenner say Francis suddenly pulled Jayde’s hair, punched her in the face, threw her to the ground and kicked her in the ribs.
Security came to the rescue dragging Francis outside, Jenner followed, punching Francis in the face. Jenner was then tased by an unknown source.
Jenner tried to get back in da club to get to the fire starter, Jayde, to no avail.
I think it is a sort of a love-hate love affair with Harvey Levin and John Mayer.
On Mayer’s Twitter he said he would chough-up $25,000 to the charity of Harvey’s choice if Harvey could find a mug shot him. Well, Harvey found one!
Seems good ole Johnny boy was arrested in Atlanta and our super-slooth friends at TMZ promptly discovered this deer in the headlight picture of the “Waiting on the world” guitarist taken while Mayer was in the clink.

Can you say drama? It’s usually the first word when describing Lohan these days. This time around Lohan’s house was again violated and the breakers-in were caught in video surveillance cameras.
It was papa Lohan who called cops to report the break in telling our friends at TMZ that a wall safe and some watches were taken. Michael Lohan also stated it was an “Inside job” because people that work for Lindsay failed to arm the alarm.
“I am not going to put up with individuals violating my family. Lindsay is a charitable, generous person that always gives. This is a personal violation and it has got to stop.” Said Mr. Lohan.
Hugh Hefner just sold a mansion that he owns, just next door to his Playboy mansion in Holmby Hills. He sold the mansion for $18 Million to a 25 year-old heir of “Chef Boyardee”, Daren Metropoulos. He must be thrilled! 25 years-old, and living next to a house full of naked women!
But wait! Trouble in paradise! The newly sold mansion still has someone living in it that refuses to leave! It’s not one of Hef’s pet lamas, it’s a lady! His ‘wife’ to be exact! His wife is the ‘girl next door’!
I forgot that Hef was still married, did you too? He has been estranged from his wife Kimberly Conrad for over a decade. They have two sons together, and just never ended up getting a divorce.
Kimberly Conrad has been living next door in the mansion with their two sons for about 10 years. Kimberly was a former Playmate in 1988, and then became Playmate of the Year in 1989. Hef let Kimberly live in the mansion next door, and fulfilled the prenup by giving her various sums of money throughout the years; but it’s NEVER enough! Dig Dig Dig baby!
LAPD has confirmed they were investigating a DVD given to them by an unnamed source back in July. That same DVD contained the now infamous Dane, Gayheart and Peniche sex triangle tape. Police said that the reason for the investigation of the DVD was it “Contained images that could link celebrities engaging in illegal activity. “The DVD included archived articles and photographs of porn stars and formally convicted madams, which could readily be found over the Internet.”
What the “illegal activity” was is unclear, however, a tabloid stated this week that pictures, possibly still frame images from segments of the sex triangle tape not yet released contained Gayheart smoking from a crack pipe. This is yet unconfirmed.
It is unclear if was Police that allowed the DVD, or at least portions of it, to be leaked. Although Peniche is pointing the finger at her former roommate, country singer Mindy McCready claiming she stole and then leaked that tape.
Man, divorce has never been so good! America’s favorite father, Jon Gosselin, is moving forward with his new reality show titled Divorced Dads Club. With him in the development process is father of the year candidate Michael Lohan and Lindsay Lohan’s manager. In fact, TMZ has a shot of all the boys celebrating what seems like a development deal. Cha-chinge!
We have no idea what Divorced Dads Club will be about (probably something regarding fathers who are, I don’t know, divorced) but we do know that Jon might not be a big part of it at first. You see, he’s under contract with TLC and is prohibited from appearing on other shows. He might be able to get some sort of producer’s credit but that’s likely it for the time being. This might mean that Jon is looking to get out of Jon & Kate Plus 8, which has been the rumor for some time.
George Clooney, the world’s most charming man, is set to sue the pesky paparazzi over in Italy. According to Clooney, some photographers scaled the walls of his Italian mansion and, using long lens, took shots of underage girls changing. Clooney is now on a warpath to take those paps down.
George told TMZ: “We’re suing two magazines AND a photographer. I don’t know about the law in the United States but in Italy it’s illegal for photographers to climb over my wall and to take long lens pictures of a 13-year-old girl in her bedroom.”
I must say that I agree with George here. It’s really wrong to illegally penetrate a celebrity’s property for photos but it’s even worse to not have knowledge of the people you’re shooting. If the photographers would have taken their jobs seriously and figured out they were snapping photos of underage girls none of this would have happened. We’ll see what the Italian courts decide.
