Female Shreveport Officer Killed By Boyfriend In Case Of ‘Domestic Violence’ Say Officials

SHREVEPORT, LA. (THECOUNT) — Chateri Payne, the female Shreveport police officer shot and killed as she prepared to leave for work Wednesday night, is believed to have been the victim of a domestic violence.

Reports say, Payne was shot at least four times, including at least once in the head in an incident that was not targeted because she was an officer, reports KTBS News.

The shooting occurred around 8:20 p.m. in the 1600 block of Midway Avenue between Bernstein and Linwood avenues.

Officer Chateri Payne was about to get in her patrol vehicle when she was shot. The vehicle was running. Her boyfriend, by whom she had a child, was taken into custody. His name has not been released and no charges had been announced Thursday morning. Continue reading

Two Police Officers Shot In Head Wednesday In Separate North Carolina, Louisiana, Shootings

SHREVEPORT, LA. – RALEIGH, NC. (THECOUNT) — An on-duty officer with the Shreveport, Louisiana Police Department was shot in the head Wednesday at a residence, and a Raleigh, North Carolina, police officer was shot in the face Wednesday night after responding to a suspicious vehicle call.

Shreveport Police confirmed that the uniformed police officer was shot in the head at a home in the 1600 block of Linwood Avenue in Shreveport.

A manhunt is underway for the suspect responsible for shooting a Raleigh officer in an incident that occurred at Schaub Drive and Teakwood Place in southwest Raleigh.

The unidentified Shreveport officer was transported to a local hospital with life threatening injuries, reports klfy.

The male Raleigh officer was rushed to WakeMed in unknown condition, according to abc11.

Shreveport Police say they received a shots fired call just after 8 p.m. Wednesday. The officer was not on duty at the time of the shooting but was getting prepared to report for shift at Police Headquarters. “The officer was not engaged in a call of service, and had not been dispatched to a call.” Police said. Shreveport’s Mayor and Police Chief were on scene. One person is being detained, police advised, but has not been arrested.

Shortly before 10 p.m., an ABC11 crew at the scene heard flash bangs from in the neighborhood behind us. It was unclear exactly where officers are searching but they were concentrating on an area about half a mile from the shooting scene. Raleigh area residents were being told to stay inside.


Decorated VA Air Force Tech Sgt Josh Kidd Shot Dead Near Bossier City LA Base

BOSSIER CITY, LA. (THECOUNT) — Tech. Sgt. Josh Kidd, of Roanoke, Virginia, has been identified as the Airman shot and killed near his Bossier City, Louisiana, residence. Kidd leaves behind a wife and young son. Please visit his GoFundMe at the bottom of this page.

Kidd, 30, who had recently attained the rank of Tech. Sgt., was shot dead Tuesday, September 25, “near his residence,” according to the Bossier City Police Department.

The decorated Airman was stationed at Barksdale Air Force in Bossier City, Louisiana. He was born in Roanoke, VA, and grew up at Smith Mountain Lake. The beloved new father graduated from Staunton River High School and went on to hone his skills as a mechanic at Wyotech Institute. The US Air Force took notice of his skills and he joined them in March 2008.

A funeral service with full military honors will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens in Roanoke. His family will receive friends on Wednesday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Oakey’s Vinton Chapel.

Bossier City is a city in Bossier Parish, which is located on the northwestern border of Louisiana in the United States. As of the 2010 census, Bossier City had a population of 61,315. The 2017 estimate was 68,554, according to wikipedia.

LA Man Murray Massel ID’d As Victim In Saturday Morning Shreveport I-20 Crash

SHREVEPORT, LA. (THECOUNT) — Louisiana man, Murray Massel, has been identified as the victim killed Saturday morning in a crash on I-20 in Shreveport.

Massel, 65, was killed while traveling in a truck on I-20 West near Bert Kouns Industrial Loop when the fatal crash occurred. Reports say the pickup truck collided with a tractor trailer, according to Shreveport Police.

The incident took place just after 2:45 am on Saturday morning. When officers arrived to the scene, they learned that 65-year-old Murray Massel was driving his 2014 Dodge Ram pickup truck that rear-ended an 18-wheeler. Massel, from Ponchatoula, Louisiana, was killed on the scene, and the driver of the 18-wheeler was not injured. Continue reading

Shreveport Man Terry Hill ID’d As LA Man Found Shot Dead On Mitchell Lane

SHREVEPORT, LA. (THECOUNT) — Terry Hill, of Shreveport, has been named as the man found dead on Mitchell Lane after neighbors reported gunshots just before 11 p.m. Tuesday.

Hill, 31, was found suffering from multiple gunshot wounds near Rite Aid on Pierremont Rd and Mitchell Lane.

Hill was pronounced dead at the scene.

Shreveport Police officers were responding to a shots fired call when they found a man laying in the front yard, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

Shreveport Woman 18 Arrested Over Jay Musgrove LA Aspen Apartments Murder

SHREVEPORT, LA. (THECOUNT) — An 18-year-old woman has been arrested in connection with the killing of Shreveport man, Jay Musgrove, according to the Caddo Parish Coroner’s office.

JoshuaLeron” Musgrove, 21, was found suffering from a single gunshot wound Sunday night at Shreveport apartment complex, Aspen Apartments, located on Baird Road in Shreveport, LA.

Authorities were called to the Aspen Apartments in the 9700 block of Baird Road just after 9 p.m. That’s a few blocks east of Mansfield Road. When officers arrived they found Musgrove dead. Authorities say he died from a single gunshot wound to the upper body. Continue reading

Family IDs LA Mother 40 Killed In Shreveport Bayou Submerge Crash – 3 Children Involved

Megan Victoria Brown has been named by the Caddo Coroner’s office as the woman killed when her car crashed into a Shreveport Bayou. She was 40.

Brown’s family members confirmed the sad news of Brown’s passing to members of the local press while at University Health.

Brown’s car plunged into the East Kings Highway Park, known as the Duck Pond, a part of Shreveport’s Anderson Bayou just before 7 p.m. on Monday. Three children – two 9-year-olds and a 7-year-old – were in the car when it became submerged. The children were not injured. Continue reading
