David Archuleta
American Idol runner-up David Archuleta’s father has pleaded no contest to patronizing a prostitute. He was picked up back in January at a massage parlor in Salt Lake City, apparently after neighbors complained about women of the night prowling the area.
James Jeffrey Archuleta, who is 47, will have his record wiped clean if he stays away from hookers for the rest of the month. Really, that’s it? How easy are Utah’s laws? Maybe his public embarrassment is punishment enough.
Archuleta made headlines last year for being intrusive in American Idol activities. If I remember correctly, I think he got banned or something to that effect.

Associated Press says HBO is defending its plans to depict a sacred Mormon temple ceremony in an upcoming episode of “Big Love.” The drama about a Utah polygamous family will show an endowment ceremony Sunday.
In a statement issued Tuesday, HBO said it did not intend to be disrespectful of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. But HBO says the endowment ceremony is a critical part of the “Big Love” story line.
On Monday, Mormon church leaders criticized HBO for its decision to include the ceremony. Only church members in good standing can enter temples to perform or witness the sacred rites.
HBO says the dramatization of the ceremony was vetted for accuracy by an adviser familiar with temple ceremonies.
Shut up! It’s just entertainment.
