Legendary movie company and once a major movie studio MGM (Metro Goldwyn Mayer), is sitting on the edge of 4 billion dollars debt and a potential sale of the company! The death of Hollywood begins…
We all know MGM… the Lion that growls before the movie starts… yeah, that company. This is very sad news for every movie lover in the world. MGM is the birth and blood of moving motion pictures.
The MGM studio lot was sold years ago to Sony Pictures (wish they kept the org MGM sign!), which still resides over in Culver City. I had the opportunity to work there a few times, one being on “The Curious Case of Benjamin Buttons” movie. MGM currently has an office building over in Century City. I’m not aware of any current standing “MGM” named studios, but the company does shoot at the Sony studios. Sony owns part of the MGM brand/name/company now, along with a few other odd companies like Texas Pacific Group, Comcast Corp., DLJ Merchant Banking Partners and Quadrangle Group.
This must mean that the new MGM owners can’t take care of their baby due to their own company failures! We’re calling child protection services!
Bad boy and father of 8 with Kate, has turned the corner for the worse again this week. The infamous Playboy Jon Gosselin, has wrecked his marriage since the success of his TV show “Jon and Kate Plus 8″. Jon has turned into some kind of celebrity. He hangs out with Ed Hardy’s Christian Audigier now, and he has been photographed with girlfriends/women other than his wife Kate.
There is nothing really attractive about this guy, but he is breaking hearts! What is it about him? Well, after watching this “Inside Edition” interview with his fling Kate Major, it’s plain to see that he either sucked in bed, or he was amazing and she’s just mad that they are over. You decide…

Katy Perry was deep sea thinking late night on Twitter. She was praising Beyonce, Gwen Stefani and Madonna for all of the magic in music they’ve created throughout the years. Katy was expressing how she aspires to be a big diva for years to come just like her heroes. She ponders if her fans will stick with her, or move on to the ‘next’ Katy Perry. She’s already worried about her shelf life as a pop star and obviously not enjoying her current fame! Hello Katy!!! You’ve been all over the radio and TV for the last year. Isn’t that good enough? The second biggest movie and TV prop house in the WORLD is closing.
Owner Harvey Schwartz who has ran “20th Century Props” in North Hollywood for 40 years, says ‘he has fallen victim to film and TV production leaving California for other U.S. states that lure producers with tax incentives and fewer restrictions.’
“I ran out of money about three months ago. The Hollywood business is leaving town and going to various other states,” Schwartz told Reuters.
Even though this amazing prop house is closing it’s doors, you now have the chance to own rare and original props and memorabilia from super famous movies and TV productions…
“20th Century Props is closing its doors for good at the end of July and auctioning off a collection of 93,000 props from such films as “Cleopatra” and “Titanic”, as well as TV’s “The X Files” and “Golden Girls” and music videos from Michael Jackson, Britney Spears and Madonna.” The auction runs July 28 through Aug 1 at Schwartz’s warehouse in North Hollywood, followed by an online sale.
Higher fees for filming in the Hollywood radius have screwed the town…
“Michael Jackson’s funeral is being scheduled for 10 a.m. on Tuesday, July 7, at the Staples Center in downtown Los Angeles,” Hollywood Reporter said.
“AEG Live, which owns the basketball arena and the adjacent Nokia Theater, will use both facilities and the surrounding plaza. There’s no word yet on how ticketing will be handled.” [Ticketing? They are selling tickets?]
Earlier in the week, news sources spoke too soon, and announced that MJ’s memorial and funeral was going to be held at MJ’s Neverland Ranch near Santa Barbara, CA. Some sources even falsely claimed his memorial and funeral was to be in his hometown Gary, Indiana.
Michael Jackson’s sister Janet Jackson attended tonight’s BET Awards along with her father Joe Jackson. Janet speaks to the fans very seriously about Michael’s death.
Janet says:
“My entire family wanted to be here tonight but it was just too painful, so they elected me to speak to all of you. I’m going to keep it very short. To you, Michael is an icon. To us, Michael is family. And he will forever live in all of our hearts. On behalf of my family, and myself, thank you for all of your love. Thank you for all of your support. We miss him so much. Thank you so much.”
I really hope this is true and Guy put away his “single life is the best” mentality for now. Following up on Count’s story of Madonna’s adoption issue:
Madonna and her children left Malawi yesterday and touched down in Heathrow, where they were greeted by Guy Ritchie. David Banda carried his new toy guitar as dad lifted him up and carried him to the awaiting helicopter. On Friday after Madonna’s adoption request was denied, Guy issued a statement saying he “fully supported” Madonna’s attempts at adopting Mercy, was “saddened” at the rejection, and described her as a “fantastic and loving mother.” Despite heading back to the UK, Madonna filed an appeal soon after the ruling in Malawi, and it sounds like she has an ally in Guy if she needs it.
