OH Gerken Paving Worker ID’d As Victim Struck And Killed By Vehicle In Maumee Thursday

MAUMEE, OH (THECOUNT) — Nathan Soto, of Liberty Center, Ohio, has been identified as the victim killed Thursday after a vehicle veered off the roadway and struck him west of Fallen Timbers.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol says, Soto, 42, a construction worker at Gerken Paving, died when crash investigators say a vehicle travelling eastbound on U.S. Route 24 near Waterville Township went off the right side of the road and struck Soto.

OH Grandmother and Child Killed By Falling Tree At Ryan’s Run Franklin Township

FRANKLIN TOWNSHIP, OH. (THECOUNT) — A grandmother and a two-year-old child in her care were killed when without warning, a tree fell on them at a Clermont County campground, according to the Clermont County coroner.

This happened overnight at Ryan’s Run RV Park on U.S. 52 in Franklin Township.

Ex OH Correction Officer Martin Lynn Robinson Arrested After Standoff Ends With Amherst SWAT Member Shot In Buttocks

The Amherst Ohio SWAT team member injured during a standoff in Sheffield Lake has been identified as 17-year veteran Eugene “JR” Ptacek.

Ptacek remains in critical condition on Friday after being shot in the buttocks during a shootout with suspect, Martin Lynn Robinson, a former Ohio state correction officer.

Ptacek was rushed to a local hospital via LifeFlight and was reported to be stabilized Thursday night.

Robinson was also suffered gunshot wounds to his leg and arm during the incident.

OH Woman Struck And Killed By Cleveland Old Brooklyn Train Thursday Identified

Parma Heights, Ohio, woman, Chelsey Lynn Godbold, has been named by the Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner as the woman struck and killed by a train in Cleveland’s Old Brooklyn neighborhood Thursday.

Godbold, 23, was found on the tracks with obvious blunt force trauma injuries in the area of I-480 near Broadview and Brookpark Roads around 12:30 p.m.

William Laseur ID’d As Victim In Wednesday Fatal Two-Vehicle OH-123 Ejection Crash

William Laseur has been identified as the Ohio man killed in a two-vehicle Route 123 crash Wednesday evening.

The fatal ejection crash occurred Wednesday evening near the intersection of Morrow-Woodville Road around 5:26 p.m. Laseur was 70.

A white Chevrolet Silverado, driven by Laseur, attempted to make a left hand turn onto State Route 123 from Morrow-Woodville Road when he was struck by a silver Ford Focus traveling southbound on State Route 123.

Laseur was ejected from the vehicle when it overturned after being struck, the release stated.

Laseur was pronounced dead at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center shortly after arriving by AirCare, according to a release. Continue reading

8-Year-Old Akron Boy Fighting For Life In OH Hospital After Shot By 9-Year-Old Cousin While Playing Video Games

An 8-year-old Akron, Ohio, boy was rushed to the hospital and is listed in critical condition after police say he was shot by his 9-year-old cousin as the pair were playing video games inside a Marcy Street residence.

The shooting occurred around 1 a.m. Saturday at a home in the 1200 block of Marcy Street after Arron police say boys were playing video games, when the 9-year-old went to the kitchen to get something to eat.

According to officers, the 9-year-old returned with a handgun and shot the 8-year-old in the stomach. Continue reading

OH “Citizens Arrest” Turns Deadly After Speedway Robber Tracked Down, Killed At Columbus Airport Sheraton By “Good Samaritans”

Ohio police are investigating the robbery of a woman that turned deadly at a Columbus gas station after a group of witnesses followed the suspect in an attempt to detain him Sunday morning.

Columbus Division of Police say several males chased a robbery suspect after witnessing him accost a woman visiting a Speedway Gas Station, located at, 1442 N Cassady Ave, Columbus, OH.

After a brief chase, the group of “Good Samaritans” cornered the suspect near the rear of the airport Sheraton Hotel, and an altercation ensued, police say. Continue reading

Darrell Bruffy has been identified as the Ohio man shot and killed during a police-involved shooting in Columbus.

Bruffy, 55, was pulled over after Deputy Jacob Heaberlin responded to the area on reports of an erratic driver traveling on US 62 early evening Wednesday night. Bruffy fled the scene and a chase ensued.

The pursuit ended several minutes and a few miles later at the corner of Eakin Road and Harrisburg Pike, when Bruffy crashed. Moments later, authorities say Bruffy exited the vehicle and began shooting immediately. Heaberlin returned fire after he was shot once in the lower right abdomen. Two Franklin Township Officers who had pulled up immediately after the crash also returned fire. Continue reading

OH Firefighter Identified As Victim In Columbus Fatal Motorcycle Crash Tuesday Night

Derek Walton, a Columbus firefighter, has been identified as the man killed in a motorcycle crash Tuesday evening near downtown Columbus.

Walton was operating a Suzuki motorcycle when the wreck occurred before 10 p.m. at the intersection of E Long St. and N 11th St., Columbus, OH, the Columbus Division of Police said.

FL Man Shoots OH Woman Dead Shows Off Body In St. Petersburg Shed “Brags” To Neighbors

Florida man, Angelo Dante Beckford, was arrested on murder charges after shooting an Ohio woman dead, and then boasting to neighbors about the violent crime.

Cheyenne Snyder, a 29-year-old Galion, Ohio, mother of two, was found murdered in a shed, located at, 524 16th Avenue South, St. Petersburg, FL, after neighborhood residents say Beckford boasted about his extensive criminal past. He had been released from jail less than a month before murdering Snyder.

St. Petersburg police say Beckford showed his neighbors the body of a deceased 29-year-old woman, later identified as Snyder, inside a storage container in his shed on April 30. Continue reading
