DES MOINES, Iowa (THECOUNT) — Jerry Goff has been identified as the victim in a fatal weekend shooting in Des Moines, IA.
Goff, 40, died in the hospital after being shot Sunday at around 2:15 a.m. in the 600 block of 38th Street, Des Moines, IA.
Police say, Goff was transported by a private vehicle after the shooting occurred. The shooting may have stemmed from an earlier domestic dispute, however police declined to elaborate. The Polk County Attorney’s Office was assigned to the homicide investigation.
Police say they believe the shooting stemmed from a domestic incident. No arrests have been made. Police say they are working with the Polk County Attorney’s Office already in this case. Continue reading
Antonio Brown has been identified as the Iowa man killed in a single-vehicle Wednesday evening on the South side of Des Moines.
Brown, 43, was likely driving at a high rate of speed when he was killed in the violent crash, Des Moines Police said in a report.
Police say Brown was southbound on SW 9th Street just before 9:00pm Wednesday when he lost control and crashed into block column near the intersection with Bundy Avenue. Police say Brown was traveling at a high rate of speed at the time of the crash. Continue reading
Samuel Tucker has been identified as the Iowa man arrested Monday morning after police responded to a call reporting a Des Moines woman’s kidnapping.
Tucker, 28, is being held in the Polk County Jail after police say he kicked down the front door of a Des Moines residence and abducted a woman who was located inside the dwelling.
Officers were called to 4810 Ingersoll Avenue, Des Moines, Iowa, a little after 5:30 a.m. on a report of a domestic disturbance. The caller said Tucker kicked the door in and carried an adult female victim out of the residence. The victim resisted, but he put her in a car and drove away. Continue reading
An Iowa man is under arrest after police say he threatened to kill a woman and tried to burn down a Des Moines residence.
Antonio Starks, 38, is being held at the Polk County Jail and is facing several charges for the incident including first degree arson, assault causing bodily injury, assault domestic abuse, and violation of a no contact order.
Police were called to 701 35th Street around 1:15 a.m. Monday on a report that Starks was assaulting a woman. While officers were still on the way, they learned Starks was pouring gasoline in the kitchen and threatening to burn the house down. When officers arrived, Starks was pouring gas in a children’s bedroom. Starks then threw the gas can at officers and lit a bed in the room on fire. Continue reading
Police have arrested Nyagai Neyail, the Iowa mother connected to a deadly crash Sunday night where a pedestrian was killed in Des Moines.
Officials say Neyail, 21,was operating an SUV when she struck and killed a 33-year-old man who was walking westbound on the 2800 block of Urbandale Ave.
Police say evidence shows Neyail’s 3-day-old and 6-year-old children were in the vehicle during the crash. Continue reading
Scott Michael Greene is the Urbandale, Iowa man accused of ambushing two police officers, killing them both about 20 minutes apart, Wednesday morning. Greene has since been captured. The officers’ cruisers were later located riddled with bullets.
Greene, 46, was arrested in Dallas County, Iowa, hours after slaying both cops. The murdered officers have been identified as Officer Justin Martin, 24, and Des Moines Sergeant Anthony “Tony” Beminio, age 38.

Des Moines, Iowa, mother, Hallie Amick, was arrested after police say her 2-year-old son was found home alone, trying to eat a frozen chicken breast.
Amick, 30, is facing charges of child endangerment after police say they went to a home in the 100 block of East Emma Ave. around 10:15 a.m. Monday after someone called 911 reporting a toddler left home alone.
When officers arrived, they found a 2-year-old male in the backyard, wearing nothing but a full and sagging diaper. Continue reading
Braden Joplin, a Ben Carson campaign staffer, was killed after being involved in a serious van crash on Tuesday.
Joplin, 25, died in a nearby hospital as a result of injuries he sustained in the accident. Two other staffers aboard the vehicle were seriously injured.
Joplin was in a van with other Carson campaign volunteers when a van hit an ice patch and flipped on its side. Another vehicle also crashed into the van. Continue reading
