Richard Vance has been named as the pilot who escaped a fatal helicopter crash in New York City’s East River Sunday.
Vance, 33, of Wallingford, Connecticut, was operating the doomed red helicopter when the crash occurred. According to sources, the aircraft flipped upside down in the water. All five passengers were pronounced dead.
According to the Federal Aviation Administration, Vance is a certified helicopter pilot and instructor. Continue reading
A small plane crash in Connecticut that killed Jordanian national, Feras Freitekh, and injured another man in was “an intentional act,” the NTSB announced in a statement Wednesday. The FBI will now take the lead in the investigation.
A man who survived the crash, which occurred Tuesday afternoon, told investigators the wreck was not an accident. That man was in critical condition at a local Hospital, but was able to speak to detectives.
The Hartford Courant reported a student pilot and his instructor were arguing before the crash, with the student saying he no longer wanted to fly the plane. An initial search of the apartment where the student was staying found no signs of terrorism, the newspaper added. Continue reading

A man wielding a machete has been shot and killed by police after they say he went into a Mediterranean restaurant and began slicing several patrons.
The suspect then reportedly fled the Nazareth Restaurant, but was located by police about 5 miles away, a standoff ensued at which time the man was killed.

A New York City jury has ordered 50 Cent to pay Rick Ross‘ baby mama, Lavonia Leviston, an additional $2 million in punitive damages.
50 was previously ordered to pay Levinton $5 million, which resulted in the rapper filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in Connecticut.

10 states on the East Coast have been affected by a salmonella outbreak that appears to be related to bean sprouts produced in Brooklyn, New York.
According to the CDC, at least 63 people in Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, Montana, New Hampshire, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island and Vermont have been stricken with salmonella, many of those hospitalized.
78 percent of those people reported eating bean sprouts in the week leading up their diagnoses. Officials believe Brooklyn’s Wonton Foods, Inc. has been producing the contaminated sprouts and said the company agreed to stop selling them Friday. Continue reading
Brian McClellen, a male model from Northeast Ohio who was found burning atop a Metro-North train has died.
The train, which departed Stamford, Conn., at 5:02 a.m., lost power which prompted workers to investigate, and that’s when they found McClellen, 21, on the roof of the sixth car still on fire.
The Ohio model was rushed to Westchester Medical Center with burns over 85 percent of his body. Continue reading
