NC Man Gaston Coy Underwood ID’d As Victim In Greensboro Fatal Single-Vehicle Motorcycle Crash

GREENSBORO, NC. (THECOUNT) — Gaston Coy Underwood, of Greensboro, NC., has been identified as the motorcyclist killed following a crash Saturday.

Underwood, 56, was operating a 1996 Harley Davidson motorcycle westbound on the 3500 block of Burlington Road when the fatal crash occurred.

He lost control of the motorcycle and ran off the roadway to the right before being ejected from the motorcycle. Continue reading

Shaquavia Wheaton ID’d As MS Victim In Fatal Head-On Bay Springs MS-15 Crash

Shaquavia Wheaton, of Louin, MS., has been identified as the female victim in a fatal two-car head-on crash in Jasper County, Monday, May 21.

Wheaton, 20, was traveling on State Highway 15, Bay Springs, MS., around 2:30 p.m Monday, when the violent crash occurred.

Wheaton was pronounced dead at the scene.

Sergeant Andy West with Mississippi Highway Patrol said the other driver involved was 44-year-old Michael D. Falgout of Lumberton. He was taken to South Central Medical Center with serious injuries. At last check, he has been released from the hospital. Continue reading

KY Woman Jessica Owens ID’d As Victim In Fatal Head-On Bays Branch Area Prestonsburg Crash

Jessica Owens, of Salyersville, KY., has been named as the victim who died in a head-on crash on KY-321 Wednesday night.

Owens, 42, was traveling on KY-321 near the Bays Branch area, in Prestonsburg, KY., before 9:30 p.m. when the fatal crash occurred. The driver of the other vehicle, Elizabeth Lemaster, required the Jaws Of Life to extricate her from the mangled vehicle. She was airlifted to Cabell-Huntington Hospital.

Police say Lemaster was driving northbound near the Highlands Regional Medical Center when her vehicle left the lane, bounced off the guardrail into the southbound lane, and hit Owens’ vehicle head-on. Continue reading

Marissa Lybarger ID’d As Young FL Victim In Fatal I-4 Seminole County Chevy Malibu Vs Dump Truck Crash

A 21-year-old Lake Mary woman killed late Tuesday in a crash on I-4 in Seminole County has been identified as Marissa Lybarger, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

Lybarger was traveling east on I-4 between FL-436 and FL-434 in Altamonte Springs, FL., when the fatal crash occurred, the FHP said in a report.

Troopers said Lybarger was driving a 2013 Chevrolet Malibu and failed to slow as she approached a dump truck. The front of her car hit the rear of the truck, troopers said. It’s not known if Lybarger was wearing a seat belt or if alcohol played a role in the crash, the FHP said. Continue reading

Bob Cruz ID’d As San Antonio Man Killed In Pine Street Police Involved Shooting

Robert “Bob” Cruz has been named as the man shot and killed by a San Antonio police officer Monday evening in an incident that occurred on the city’s East side.

Officials responded to S Pine St & Iowa St., at about 5:45 p.m. on reports of an officer-involved shooting.

Police said the man was pointing a gun at people at the VIA bus stop. When the officer arrived, he found him walking away from the bus stop. The officer started honking at him to get his attention. Police said the suspect then spun toward him and opened fire on the officer. A VIA Police officer then pulled up behind the officer when the shooting started. The officer returned fire through the windshield of his vehicle, striking the suspect, who fled around 15 yards before collapsing and dying. Continue reading

Ivan Reyes Tagui ID’d As SC Victim In Fatal Pawleys Island Swimming Incident

The Georgetown County coroner has identified Ivan Reyes Tagui as the swimmer whose body was recovered Saturday night on Pawleys Island.

Tagui, 18, of Georgetown, drowned Saturday while swimming with two others, according to officials.

Tagui’s body was recovered at approximately 8:45 p.m., the Pawleys Island Police chief said.

A Pawleys Island Police officer rescued two other swimmers earlier in the afternoon, but authorities said Tagui went under, prompting a search that lasted more than four hours. Continue reading

Sacramento Driver Killed After Plunge Off Capital City Freeway Down To Arden Way

A Sacramento driver was killed in an early morning crash after a vehicle careened off of the Capital City Freeway near Arden Way.

The deceased driver was traveling towards downtown when for an unknown reason exited the freeway and struck a power pole. The vehicle continued to barrel down an embankment before coming to arrest on Arden way.

Winthrop University Mourns Death Of Student With “Beautiful Soul” Who Died In I-85 Crash

Kuira Cruz, from Rock Hill, has been identified as the Winthrop University student who died in an I-85 crash Thursday, police and school officials confirmed.

Cruz, 20, was traveling on Interstate 85 in Davidson County, N.C., when her vehicle and a tractor-trailer collided in North Carolina, the N.C. Highway Patrol wrote in a report.

Cruz was in her second semester at Winthrop, said school officials.

“Our thoughts are with her family, fellow students and colleagues who knew her,” said Frank Ardaiolo, Winthrop vice-president for student life. Continue reading

Wilbert Hawkins Named As Longview TX Man Killed In Saturday Night Crash

Wilbert Hawkins has been identified by Longview, TX., police as the man who died in a crash Saturday night.

According to police, Hawkins, 58, died after being hit by a car in the 3900 block of West Loop 281.

According to reports, Hawkins got out of his car after it stopped working in the inside lane of westbound West Loop 281. Several cars stopped to prevent from hitting Hawkins’ car. A 2015 Nissan Titan, driven by Julio Martinez, 38, of Longview, moved into the turning lane of westbound traffic to avoid striking the stopped car. Continue reading

Micah Reed has been named by family members as the missing man found dead in Jennings Creek.

The Bowling Green Police Department had been searching for Reed, 34, since being reported missing March 30.

BGPD says on April 9 around 5:30 p.m. they got a call from a man saying he had found a body in Jennings Creek. Continue reading
