Celebrity chef Michael Chiarello, an Emmy-winning Food Network personality and cookbook author, was busted Wednesday while in Napa california for DUI possessing drugs while driving his Porsche.
Chiarello, 54, who also appeared on Bravo cooking show “Top Chef Masters,” was stopped at 3:27 a.m. while driving his Porsche Boxster on Silverado Trail, said Officer Marc Renspurger, a spokesman for the California Highway Patrol in Napa.
The chef reportedly told the officer he was driving from Yountville, home to his eatery, Bottega Ristorante. Continue reading
At least 13 people are dead and dozens were injured Sunday morning after a tour bus and a tractor-trailer collided on the 10 Freeway near Palm Springs.
EMS are searching for more victims in the mangled tour bus. Photos from the scene show the bus and truck nearly completely destroyed by the severe impact.
All westbound lanes of the highway are closed and traffic is being diverted, according to the California Highway Patrol. Reports say at least 21 victims have been taken to Palm Springs-area hospitals. Photos show the front of the passenger bus pushed into the semi-truck’s trailer. CHP officials are on the scene after a single engine plane crashed into a car on a San Diego freeway, San Diego officials said.
The crash happened on I-15 north near State Route 76 Saturday morning.

Protesters brought traffic to a grinding halt on San Francisco’s famed Bay Bridge after chaining themselves to several vehicles.
A massive snarl of cars and trucks lay dead in their tracks over most of the 23,556 feet of the major bay artery.

Three California Highway Patrol officers were arrested Friday in connection with the killing of California man, Korey Kauffman. A prominent lawyer and five other people were also taken into custody over the killing.
Kauffman, 26, was found dead by hunters in August 2013 in rural Mariposa County near Yosemite National Park after being reported missing in April 2012.
A Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Department spokesperson said Modesto attorney Frank Carson, (pictured top center,) masterminded Kauffman’s killing because he wanted to ‘send a message’ to area thieves who he thought were stealing from his storage unit. Continue reading
Norman Greenbaum, best known for writing and performing the 1969 hit song “Spirit in the Sky” remained in critical condition in a San Francisco hospital Monday after being involved in a car accident that left a motorcyclist dead.
Greenbaum, 72, was transported to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital after the car he was a passenger in collided with a motorcycle.
The driver of the motorcycle, 20-year-old Ihab Usama Halaweh, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, according to the CHP statement. Continue reading
Dennis Derr, a detective for the L.A.P.D. committed suicide on Thanksgiving morning after two relatives accused him of abusing them, authorities confirmed.
Derr, 52, a L.A.P.D. veteran who was himself in charge of abuse cases, was found unresponsive in his vehicle which was parked in a Walmart parking lot in Palmdale.
Law enforcement officials said, Derr died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s Assistant Chief Ed Winter. Continue reading
A California Highway Patrol officer has been has been assigned to desk duty after being accused of secretly sending intimate photos of a DUI suspect from her cellphone to his own phone while the woman was in custody.
City records reveal that Sean Harrington, 35, a five-year veteran based in Dublin, could be charged with felony computer theft after forwarding himself six explicit photos during the booking a 23-year-old San Ramon woman in August.
The photos depict the woman, who is not being identified, in a bikini and in various states of undress.
For yet unknown reasons, a man stopped his Tesla motorcar in the middle of PCH in Malibu and danced (or maybe practiced the art of karate?) while naked. Highway Patrol tried to convince the man to exit the vehicle as he stood out the sunroof and swung his pants around.
