“The Hangover” takes the #1 spot again

The Warner Bros. comedy “The Hangover” took in another $33.4 million to remain the top box-office draw for a second-straight weekend, according to studio estimates.

This brings it’s total to $105.4 million after 10 days in theaters making it the  summer’s first movie to finish at No. 1 for two weekends in a row.

Disney’s latest hit, the action comedy “Up,” came in a close second again with $30.5 million bringing it’s total gross to $187.2 million.

Debuting at No. 3 with $25 million was Sony’s action remake “The Taking of Pelham 1 2 3.”The thriller stars Denzel Washington as a dispatcher going toe to toe with John Travolta, a criminal  mastermind of a subway hijacking.

Year One and The Proposal will put an end to all this repeat business, but it is slightly saddening to see Eddie Murphy’s “Imagine That” only bring in $5.7 million with a 6th place finish. Pluto Nash, Norbit, and now this major flop,I think it’s time for Eddie to go back to raunchy adult comedy. Delirious or Raw anyone?

Up is #1 again and The Hangover is a surprise hit Great

Now I’m not going to sit on my high horse and take a dump on “Up” the 2009 Pixar offering that has now swept the box office 2 weekends in a row. Though I have no plans to ever watch”Up” it was nice to see the R Rated bro comedy “The Hangover” stump the statistics and give “Up” a run for it’s animated money.

I watched “The Hangover” at an advanced screening back in February and I thought it was hilarious aside from casting Mike Epps, so I decided to cash in my proverbial chips and watch “Land of the Lost” and judging from it’s soft third place finish, none of you bothered to join me. You see Will Ferrell and Danny McBride offer every reason to spend $7-10  bucks and watch grown men make asses of themselves for an hour and a half. They don’t disappoint.I went in twice.

Midnight Meat Train Review- Go Ahead And Take The 2am Train!

 

Ah horror films; the suspense, the blood, the terror in the victims eyes before a silver shiny object plunges into their darkest places. Clive Barker said in his book Books Of Blood Volume 1, “everyone is a book of blood – whenever we’re opened, we’re red”

Captured by the need to photograph the city in all its glory, a young man saves a model in a New York subway station from being raped and possibly murdered. The photograph he takes before saving her is his meal ticket to fame if only he can get two more similar “city” pieces to compose a series for the gallery owner.

On his treck to fulfill his lifelong goal and award his ability he finds out that the model has disappeared, along with hundreds of others along the subway system. One man, pictured above, is the culprit. Vicious murders take place on the 2am train-and where the train ends up is somewhere quite different than a world we are used to.
