Is this a joke? Hollyscoop reports that singer Katy Perry is suing a designer named ‘Katie Perry’ because Katy Perry the singer thinks she should have all rights and money to the name.
Katie Perry from Australia has been in the business of fashion for over two years. That’s a whole year longer than anyone knew about Katy Perry the singer. So you can imagine how shocked she was when she got a letter from Perry’s lawyers asking her to change her name and drop her business.
Katie [the designer] says, “I got such a huge shock. It really felt like I was being intimidated and bullied into signing everything away.
“(The letter) asked me to give up the trademark, withdraw sale of my clothes, withdraw any advertising and any websites, and sign that I will not in the future use a similar trademark to Katy Perry. I pretty much burst into tears.
“I love my business. I’m not going to give it away without a fight either. I’m not trying to become a singer. I’m not pretending to be her. “This is my income. And it’s the livelihood of my contractors as well.”

In a recent interview, Katy Perry expresses that she wants her own concerts to be like Britney Spears’ concerts.
For now, Katy’s gotta keep her shows simple, due to a smaller budget.
Katy says, “I really want to see (Britney’s) show. I hear it’s supposed to be amazing and I love those big production shows, but I haven’t been able to get to that point yet. I’m on my first record. I don’t have millions of dollars to do shows like that just yet.”
“I love how she uses all the dancers and all the theatrics.”

Katy Perry’s break-up with Gym Class Heroes star Travis McCoy continues to get messier – the pop star has warned others about dating her ex. The couple split at Christmas after romancing for much of last year, and it wasn’t all amicable – as McCoy proved with a post on his website, in which he revealed the pair had been arguing for weeks.
He wrote, “We fight every night, now that’s not kosher. I reminisce with bliss of when we was closer. And wake up to be greeted by an argument again, You act like you’re 10.”
Perry has refused to hit back until now – during a show at Los Angeles’ Wiltern Theatre on Saturday, the “I Kissed A Girl” rook a shot at her former lover’s commitment issues. She said, “Girls, if you have ever dated a boy – specifically the lead singer from Gym Class Heroes – don’t do it! Boys should have a heart. You know what I mean girls? Boys just want the milk, but they don’t want to buy the cow.”

I guess Katy Perry doesn’t have the same manager as Britney Spears or Hilary Duff, because she is quite the non-virginal bean spiller. She decided to set the record straight that her saying she was going to be celibate for a year was actually a joke.
She says, “I’m not going to be celibate, I guess I’m just going to be looking for the right one. But please! Celibacy for a whole year! I’d rather Die!”

Seems Award Show snafus are common these days, most recently, embarrassment at the French Music Awards. Katy Perry was awarded “International song of the year” for “I kissed a girl.” The award show, which is based on audience votes, serenaded Perry to the podium where she collected the trophy, but soon producers would be asking for that award back.
At the end of the program, the host of the NRJ Music Award announced, in fact Perry did not win, and re-awarded the prize to Rihanna! Sighting “a mistake in vote-counting.” Fitting the award now went to best song, “Disturbia” because that’s exactly how Katy must have felt.
Going down in the beautiful resort of Cannes, the statuettes were dispersed based voting that took place on the NJR’s website. How the vote-counters miscounted the votes is still a mystery, especial, when most likely, the website program simply shows a vote total, which is hard to mess-up.
Other winners (who got to keep their awards) were: Britney Spears, “Female Artist of the Year”, Pussycat Dolls, “Best International Group” and Enrique Iglesias, “Best Male Artist.”
