Bill and Hillary Clinton issued a statement via the Clinton Foundation noting the passing of David Rockefeller. The former chief executive of Chase Manhattan bank died at 101 years of age.
The Clintons’ remarks read in part:
“David Rockefeller was a consummate businessman, a great humanitarian, and a serious scholar. He was a kind, good man to all who met him. Hillary and I are grateful for his friendship and his remarkable life.”
The son of billionaire David Rockefeller, Dr. Richard Rockefeller, was killed Friday morning when the small plane he was piloting crashed shortly after takeoff.
Dr. Rockefeller, 65, was the only person on board the plane, which the authorities identified as a Piper Meridian single-engine turboprop.
Fraser P. Seitel, the family spokesman, said Dr. Rockefeller was an experienced pilot and had flown in and out of the Westchester airport many times.
