People.com reports today that Vanessa Minnillo, former MTV VJ and bit player in random comedy spoof movies, in a recent interview mentions marriage three times and tells the reporter that the five carat ring on her middle finger will become 10 carats when it moves to her fourth finger.Eventually.

You really wanna put the dude from 98 Degrees on the spot like that? In this economy she should be happy if he writes her a heartfelt ballad and takes her to KFC for some grilled chicken. I know he married Jessica Simpson but all that proved to do was ruin the miniscule celebrity he had worked so hard for in his white soul quartet. With his trusty brother-in-law, Casey Afflack in tow, Joaquin Phoenix made the most of Casey’s filming by jumping off stage to confront a heckler.
Happening at a Miami nightclub, Phoenix was performing his silly rap, when the audience member started mouthing off. Either it was staged or the guy had a pretty loud voice, because Phoenix somehow heard the man say something he did not like (while the music was blasting) “We have a f***ing bitch in the audience.” Phoenix said, “and I’ve got $1million in the bank. What have you got bitch?”

That was around the point when Phoenix jumped off the stage and on the loud mouth. Malay ensued, as the crowd chanted, “beat him up.” Security eventually carted the heckler out of the venue.
Phoenix’s first public rap concert embarrassment was in Las Vegas and ended with him literally falling off stage.
Some Hollywood insiders are convinced Phoenix is conducting a hoax, others surmise drugs are fueling his crazy behavior. The one thing that is for sure is, he’s documenting all of it.

Calling him the “Homeless looking brother of River.” COLD! Phoenix reportedly turned his back on the comic and spent the rest of his act talking to the bartender.

US Weekly reported, Ashton Kutcher wrote a blog on his Twitter page that basically called Joaquin Phoenix a “phony”, saying that it was, “too odd” that Phoenix’s brother-in-law, Casey Affleck, happens to be doing a documentary on him, filming all of his weird antics. I find it interesting that at the end of the interview, he takes his glasses off and returns to shake Dave’s hand again.”

I guess that Ashton, after reading his own comments, felt like he had to set the record straight, again.
However, I think it is more likely, Ashton read what he said, this time not on his own Twitter page, but in a major news outlet, and suddenly realized he may have offended Phoenix by trying to call him out as a “faker.”
What ever the case may be, here is Ashton’s myspace blog as he tries to run some damage control.

“Joaquin I’m sorry you couldn’t be here tonight” Dave joked. Joaquin’s hair matted, his voice a murmur, his skin apparently crawling. I could feel Joaquin’s irritation from the couch. The audience laughed at him constantly throughout the segments. Although he said virtually nothing, the weirdness spoke volumes.
After seeing this spectacle, I’m left thinking, “Is this supposed to be a joke?” Has something gone terribly wrong with Phoenix or is he using us as some sort of science project?
Sadly, the answers probably wont come easy. He surely will never admit he is playing all of us, and if he does have real issues then we may not know until it’s too late. When things go this wrong with this great of an American actor, all we can do is keep our fingers crossed and buckle ourselves in for the ride.

Joaquin Phoenix: Retiring from Movies at Age 34?

Joaquin Phoenix dropped quite a shocker at a benefit for Paul Newman’s camps for kids Monday, announcing his plans to quit acting.
“I want to take this opportunity … to give you the exclusive and just talk a little bit about the fact that this will be my last performance as an actor,” the two-time Oscar nominee told Extra at the San Francisco event. “I’m not doing films anymore.”
“Are you serious?” asked the stunned interviewer Jerry Penacoli.
“Yeah. I’m working on my music,” Phoenix insisted. “I’m done. I’ve been through that.”
His rep confirmed the retirement to Extra.
The 34-year-old performer gave no further details on his career plans – but he has been working on a record for some time British band The Charlatans.
Phoenix, who costars in the upcoming romantic drama Two Lovers with Gwyneth Paltrow, first learned to play guitar for his Academy-Award-nominated role as Johnny Cash in 2005’s Walk The Line.
He was also nominated in 2000 for his supporting role in Gladiator.
