David Letterman demonstrated his affection for Pearl Jam when he inducted the grunge icons into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. The band had been a staple on his now classic CBS Late Show since 1996.
Letterman, who called the band’s “Hail, Hail” a “big thrill” on his show in 1996, conveyed what was commonly witty, wry and an ardent speech. This is what the retired late-night host needed to say in regards to his affection for the long-running band.

Talk about timing, and all of it bad.. The CBS Television Network today announced that Stephen Colbert, the host, writer and executive producer of “The Colbert Report,” will succeed David Letterman as the host of THE LATE SHOW, effective when Mr. Letterman retires from the broadcast.
Letterman, the legendary, critically acclaimed host of the CBS late night series for 21 years, announced his retirement on his April 3 broadcast. Colbert’s premiere date as host of THE LATE SHOW will be announced after Mr. Lettermen determines a timetable for his final broadcasts in 2015.
Specific creative elements, as well as the producers and the location for the Colbert-hosted LATE SHOW, will be determined and announced at a later date.
Lady Gaga hungrily lapped up some of her final fleeting press time by making a surprise visit to Bill Murray via The David Letterman Show. Murray showed up on Wednesday’s Late Show With David Letterman to take a bucket list photo with host and Gaga.
The Groundhog Day actor revealed that one of the things left on his bucket list was to meet Lady Gaga.
On Wednesday night’s David Letterman show, Eva Longoria was promoting her new cookbook. She has compiled a book of family and her own recipes called Eva’s Kitchen.
She came out dressed in a blazer and tiny shorts that matched, and told Letterman that she had worn a tuxedo for him. He jested back at her, “Or part of one.” David Letterman told her she looked tremendous as his eyes bugged out a little.
