Thanks to Lisa Mason Lee, ThecounT.com readers get to see the Emmy Red Carpet a full day early! Busy bees are buzzing everywhere at the NOKIA Theatre L.A. LIVE, meticulously setting up the outdoor set in preparation for countless celebrities to take the long walk to to their seats. Some are nominated and some will simply grace Emmy with their attendance.
Brand
The MTV Video Music Awards will be returning to New York City this year. The festivities will take place on September 13 and will have performances from Taylor Swift and the great British rock band Muse, among others.
This year’s host, Russell Brand, will once again lead the chaos. Brand made a little controversy this year when he made fun of the Jonas Brothers‘ purity rings. No need to make fun of that anymore, considering one of the boys is trading his purity ring in for a wedding ring. Personally, I thought Brand was really funny last time but I think I may have been in the minority. You could hear a pin drop during some of his jokes. Oh well.
Apparently the show won’t be held in just one venue. MTV says the awards ceremony will take place all over NYC, including Madison Square Garden and Radio City Music Hall. Whatever helps to make it more interesting. The VMA’s have been lacking lately. What used to be inventive and exciting has now become repetitive and bland. Let’s hope that a return to New York will liven the show up.

Bret Michaels is trying to penetrate my soul with his sex glare.
Sadly that headline is not a joke. Bret hurt himself while performing with his band Poison during the Tony Awards last night. Of all the bands from the 80’s, the Tony’s chose Poison? We are in a recession. My word.
Apparently Bret walked into a descending set piece during the performance busting his lip and fracturing his nose. Well as long as he can recuperate in enough time to start work on the next Rock of Love, or Rock of Love bus then all will be right in the universe. Perhaps for the next season the girls can win a date to take Bret to the optometrist so he can get some glasses because all this crashing into set pieces is proof that his old peepers ain’t what they used to be.
Eminem is hard
Eminem has confessed that the whole Bruno/MTV Movie Award tea bagging thing was staged.
“I’m thrilled that we pulled this off better than we rehearsed it,” the rapper, 36, tells RapRadar about his altercation with the actor, who was dressed as his flamboyant character Brüno. “It had so many people going ‘nuts’ so to speak. Everyone was blowing me up about it…”
“Sacha called me when we were in Europe and he had an idea to do something outrageous at the Movie Awards,” says Eminem. “I’m a big fan of his work so I agreed to get involved with the gag….”
“After the ceremony I went back to my hotel and laughed uncontrollably for about three hours,” he adds. “Especially after I saw it on air.”
Hmm. Laughed for 3 hours. Really? Even though this is a lame publicity attempt aimed at correcting Eminem’s previous homophobic acts of rage and showing the public that he now owns a sense of humor, I still think he’s a bit of a douche and I own all his albums (even the 1 not so great one), so I’ve purchased the right to have an opinion about him. Harrummph.
Put a fork in him, he's done
I just read that MTV Movie Awards writer Scott Aukerman confirmed that the Bruno/Eminem teabagging at the MTV Movie Awards on Sunday was staged. They actually rehearsed it.Go figure.
“Yes, the Bruno/Eminem incident was staged,” he wrote. “That’s all anyone wants to talk about, so lets get it out of the way ¦ They rehearsed it at dress and yes, it went as far as it did on the live show then.”
It’s also reported that Paris Hilton was offered to do the stunt first but turned it down and is happy that she did. When Paris Hilton starts making sound decisions, you know the apocalypse is nigh.
While Bruno will go on to make some decent movie at the box office, Eminem’s credibility is gonna start sagging lower than his pants. A “hardcore” rapper, who is notably homophobic setting up a publicity stunt where he gets a face full of ass and storms off? It would have worked if he would’ve laughed it off, then he would seem like a grown up with a sense of humor.

A Fight Club reunion, Mel Gibson gets called Sugartits and now this? Halle Berry was so grateful to Jamie Foxx for presenting her the Guys Choice Decade of Hotness Award that she proceeded to make friends with his tongue while his hands acquainted themselves with her ass. Come on Halle, your boyfriend Gabriel is ridiculously hot, you want to make out with Wanda from “In Living Color”? Hmm. I find that very curious.
First Adrien Brody then Jamie Foxx, perhaps Jonah Hill should grab a pack of Orbitz and get prepared because he might as well be next. Either way I plan on tuning in to the Spike Guys Choice Awards on June 21st because judging from the roster of celebs, Spike has pulled together a shenanigan filled award show filled to the rim with testerone and pussing over with sexiness.

During their presentation Sandra Bullock tells Ryan Reynolds he should kiss more boys and he counters by saying, “Well I kissed you?!” Ouch.
Zac Efron
Kudos to you Mr. Efron for stepping up and remaining poised, handsome, funny, and respectable. Perhaps having the number one movie when no one saw it coming refines a young man. Well done.
Andy Samberg
Overall Andy Samberg did a great job working in funny bits with amazing cameos (Justin Timberlake, J.J. Abrams, and Will Ferrell as Neil Diamond) and trying to balance his job of the intro person to the intro people for the award winners. Can’t wait to see what Andy and the Keyboard Cat will have in store for us in the future. I wonder if Eminem will finally wash his potty mouth with soap now that he’s gone ass to mouth on Bruno?

Danny and Will pet the dead kitties
I defame most things but it’s hard to touch Danny Mcbride or Will Ferrell because I think they are the cat’s meow. However with that in mind, the euthanasia bit they did with the dead kitties was one of the most awkward funny moments of the night. Up until Jim Carrey accepted the his award for best lead in a comedy and did a voice over bit that was pretty hilarious.
Hayden panettiere and the chewing gum guy
Hayden Panettiere gave an expletive filled presentation with Chewing Gum Rapper Big Pack that was remniscent of Natalie Portman’s digital short which was classic. Hayden cursing was rough because she is so sweet. She saves dolphins, she would never drop an f-bomb right?
Kristen Stewart is as clumsy as Bella
Twilight won almost 90% of the Popcorn Awards handed out tonight. And everytime we were forced to watch Kristen or Rob squirm through speech after speech. The icing on the vampire cake was when Kristen came up to accept the award for Best Female and the poor thing fumbled through her speech while Cameron Diaz stood semi shocked in the background. Then Kristen drops the award on the floor and Cameron rushes over to pick it up for her. After Kristen confirmed her awkwardness and stumbled away, I decided it was time to air out my feelings of awkwardness on this dear site.

Leann Rimes and Chris Isaak
Chris Isaak, Leann Rimes, and Forrest Whitaker took part in a medley of Lonely Island (Andy Samberg and his 2 friends, the fake mc’s responsible for “Jizz in my Pants” and “I’m on a Boat”) top hits. The 2 singers and Oscar winning actor sang “Dick in a Box”, “Jizz in my Pants”, “I’m on a Boat”, “Lazy Sunday”, and “Mother Lover” as an hommage to the Lonely Island, who sat in the audience guffawing. The skit was funny but still slightly awkward and filled with random Sinatra-esque standard background music. I secretly had wished that The Lonely Island would have did their own medley because that would have been the best performance of the night.
Kiefer takes a moment
One of the other “spoof” moments was a take on the Oscars lifetime achievement award presentation, but the MTV Generation Award was handed out to Ben Stiller for career excellence. Kiefer Sutherland, Zac Efron, and Triumph the Insult Comic Dog were presenting the award to Stiller, and they pretty much tore him a new ass*&^#. Triumph likened him physically to an ape 347 times, Zac Efron stopped talking about Stiller 2 minutes in and begin to worship Kiefer mid speech, while Kiefer burst into tears after expressing how much Stiller’s movies have helped him through tough times. Now this was entertaining but Kiefer was seriously sobbing and shots to the audience who were mildly mortified only helped make this yet another funny moment turned awkward on my list.
